CANAL CORRIDOR REGENERATION

  This £5 million plus project, which started In November 2003, will transform North Staffordshire's canals over the next four years into a series of green routes underpinning the area’s economic and social revival.
 
 
The project aims to:
  •   create strategic communication links and prime economic development
  •   improve the environment for leisure, business and community use
  •   boost tourism across the region by attracting new visitor markets
  •   give local centres a healthy commuting and leisure environment
  •   preserve and enhance the historic environment
  •   improve access points and improved connections
  This project is a joint initiative by Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council, Groundwork Stoke-on-Trent and British Waterways.
  It is being funded by Advantage West Midlands, European Regional Development Fund, Single Regeneration Budget and British Waterways.
