This £5 million plus project, which
started In November 2003, will transform North Staffordshire's canals
over the next four years into a series of green routes underpinning the
areas economic and social revival. |

improve the environment for
leisure, business and community use |
| |

boost tourism across the region by
attracting new visitor markets |
| |

give local centres a healthy
commuting and leisure environment |

preserve and enhance the historic
environment |
| |

|
improve access points and improved
connections |

| |
This project is a joint initiative
by Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council,
Groundwork Stoke-on-Trent and British Waterways. |

It is being funded by Advantage
West Midlands, European Regional Development Fund, Single Regeneration
Budget and British Waterways. |
